What are we doing with a 60 year old tram?
Tram 550 has been around the block a couple of times. After not even 6 years in service in Brisbane, in 1969 the tram found an outdoor home in Allambie Heights in NSW before being preserved by the now-defunct Newcastle Tram Museum in the early 1980’s. In the mid 1990’s, 550 spent a little time in Sydney before being sent across the Nullarbor to its final home in Perth. Having been stored undercover at the Perth Electric Tramway Society in Whiteman Park since November 1997, it is now time to get 550 running again. This webpage will chronicle this Phoenix rising once again.
